Police Requesting Assistance in Homicide Investigation

INCIDENT ALERT: HOMICIDE

WHO: VICTIM – Tammy Denise Long, a 53-year-old female

WHEN: June 2, 2025, at 1:14pm

WHERE: 2300 Block of Burgundy St

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT: At approximately 1:14 p.m. today, Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) officers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision involving injuries. Upon arrival, officers located Ms. Tammy Denise Long, who was suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported Ms. Long to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

 

Preliminary evidence indicates that this was an intentional act. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has assumed responsibility for the investigation. At this time, the relationship between the suspect and the victim is unknown. However, preliminary investigation suggests this appears to be an isolated incident where the suspect and victim were known to one another.
