Each year, one officer from every district is chosen by their peers to receive the Ghost Car—a special recognition awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional dedication, service, and leadership within the community. For District 1, this year’s honor goes to Master Police Officer Weaver, a leader admired not only by his fellow officers but also by the citizens he serves.

The Ghost Car recognition is particularly meaningful because it is awarded through peer selection. Officers nominate colleagues who exemplify the highest standards of integrity, service, and professionalism. For District 1, Officer Weaver’s name rose to the top without hesitation.
Sergeant R.D. White shared why Officer Weaver stood out among nominees:

Since his college days at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU), he has carried with him a reputation for positivity and a passion for making a difference. Sergeant White emphasized that Weaver’s well-rounded capabilities make him not only a reliable officer but also a natural leader and role model. Whether interacting with citizens or mentoring younger colleagues, Weaver consistently leads by example.
