In Kernersville, North Carolina, the Kernersville Police Department arrested a man on Saturday following a robbery at a local Walmart. The man attempted to evade officers both in a vehicle and on foot.
The incident began with a report of a stolen cellphone during a robbery at 1130 S. Main St. on November 29. The suspect, identified as Dontae Miles, was pursued by the police after the victim's report. An officer observed the suspect's vehicle turning onto southbound U.S. 421 and tried to stop it, but Miles fled, initiating a chase. He abandoned the vehicle in Greensboro, entering an apartment complex and escaping on foot.
Subsequently, Miles was located by the Greensboro police while warrants were being obtained. Kernersville officers apprehended him, and he was taken to jail. Miles faces multiple charges, including robbery, assault, traffic violations, and an additional warrant from Cabarrus County for theft. He is currently detained without bail.
