Forsyth County officials announced Thursday that Narcan, the brand name for naloxone, is now available for free at all 10 Forsyth County Public Library branches.
Narcan is a life-saving nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose within minutes. It is considered safe, easy to use, and does not require medical training.
Library visitors can request a free Narcan kit at the help desk in any branch. The initiative is part of the county’s effort to reduce the devastating impact of the opioid crisis in the community.
Funding for the program came from opioid settlement dollars, which officials are using to provide critical resources aimed at saving lives and promoting public health.
