Winston-Salem Man Charged with Murder After 66-Year-Old Found Dead in Apartment

A Winston-Salem man has been charged with murder after a 66-year-old man was found dead inside his apartment, according to police.

 

Around 1:18 p.m. on Wednesday, officers launched a homicide investigation after receiving a tip. They discovered Merle Tedder deceased in his apartment, where he had suffered a violent assault.

 

Detectives identified 56-year-old Anthony White as the suspect. He was located later that day near Sixth and Church Streets. After a short foot chase, White was arrested. Authorities said he had minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital before being taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center.

 

White is charged with murder and concealment of an unnatural death. He is being held without bond.
