Walkertown, N.C. — On Monday, June 2, 2025, deputies with The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) responded to a residence after receiving a request for a welfare check from a concerned family member.
The Sheriff's Office was informed that Alma Lavern Blaylock, 56 years-of-age from Walkertown, had not been heard from since Friday, May 30, 2025. Upon arrival deputies conducted a perimeter check of the residence and observed what appeared to be a bullet hole protruding from inside the home.
Fearing for Ms. Blaylock’s safety, deputies forced entry into the residence. Inside the primary bedroom, they discovered two deceased individuals. Ms. Blaylock was found deceased alongside Larry Dean Oglesby, 63 years-of-age from Winston-Salem.
The FCSO Investigative Services Division responded to conduct a thorough investigation into these deaths. The FCSO and the NC State Medical Examiner's Office have determined that Mr. Oglesby shot Ms. Blaylock before turning the gun on himself. The incident has been classified as a murder-suicide.
“The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office would like to give our condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. May God’s comfort and love carry us all through this difficult time.”
