Man Held Without Bond Following Kernersville Food Lion Shooting

A man is in custody without bond following a shooting that occurred Friday evening at a Food Lion on South Main Street in Kernersville, according to local authorities.

 

Lee Donnell Smith Jr., 39, was arrested Saturday by members of the Kernersville Police Department and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team. He faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, one count of discharging a firearm from within an enclosure with intent to harm or intimidate, and two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling.

 

The shooting, which happened shortly after 7 p.m., left a 31-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man injured. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
