FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (July 28, 2025) — A 71-year-old Clemmons resident is facing multiple felony charges related to child exploitation after a cybertip sparked a local investigation, authorities said.

James Timothy Adams was arrested Tuesday by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force. Investigators identified Adams as a suspect during a months-long probe that began in June 2025. The investigation was launched after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a report to the CyberTipline, indicating possible online activity involving child exploitation.

Adams has been charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Officials say these charges involve the possession or distribution of explicit materials involving children.

He was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center and is currently being held on a $200,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Forsyth County District Court.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to contact the Invictus Task Force directly.

This arrest marks another instance of how national cyber monitoring systems are aiding local law enforcement in identifying and apprehending individuals involved in child exploitation crimes.
