FORSYTH COUNTY – A former Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) Detention Officer has been charged with Introducing Contraband into a Detention Center.
An investigation was launched after information was received that unauthorized items were being taken into the Forsyth County Detention Center. The information initially suggested the name of an FCSO employee, Bryant Wilson Reid, might be involved. An internal administrative investigation and a criminal investigation were immediately initiated whereby Mr. Reid was placed on administrative leave on Friday, February 14, 2025, as is customary. On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Mr. Reid was terminated from employment with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Reid began his employment with the FCSO on January 8, 2024, as a Detention Officer.
In our continued commitment to transparency, FCSO Criminal Investigators presented evidence to the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and as such, Mr. Reid has been charged and arrested. Bryant Wilson Reid, a 46-year-old black male from Archdale, was charged with one (1) count of Introducing Contraband to a Detention Center (NCGS 14-258.1). Mr. Reid received a $20,000 secured bond, and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 13, 2025, at the Forsyth County Hall of Justice in Courtroom 308.
“We are committed to the safety and security of the persons in our care at the Detention Center. We will pursue truth and justice no matter what or who it affects. We continue to stand on what is moral, what is legal, and what is right – even when it impacts an FCSO staff member. We are a law-abiding law enforcement agency and will continue to conduct ourselves with integrity and transparency.” - Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr.
