
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has charged an individual with murder in connection to the homicide investigation that occurred in the 7000 block of Lynn Forest Drive.
Gregory Franklin Hanes, a 65-year-old white male of Tobaccoville, has been charged and arrested with one count (1) of Felony Murder (NCGS 14-17) in connection to the death of Luther Sterling Blakely, a 43-year-old white male of Winston-Salem. Mr. Hanes is currently confined in the Forsyth County Detention Center under no bond allowed with his first court appearance scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025 at 9:00am in the Forsyth County Courthouse.
As this is still an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

FORSYTH COUNTY – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is currently investigating a homicide in Rural Hall in the 7000 block of Lynn Forest Drive.
At approximately 12:10 pm, deputies responded to a call for service regarding the discharging of a firearm. Upon arrival, deputies found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. They immediately began administering life-saving measures, until Forsyth County Emergency Services arrived, however the victim succumbed to their injuries. As this investigation is in its early stages, no further information will be released at this time.
