Man Charged in Stabbing at Downtown Winston-Salem Apartment

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 70-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred Monday evening at the Crystal Towers apartment complex in downtown Winston-Salem.

 

Police identified the suspect as Mack Morris, who is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. The charge follows the execution of a search warrant by investigators.

 

The incident took place around 7:23 p.m. during an argument between Morris and 49-year-old Mary Christian Browning, which escalated into a physical altercation in the building’s laundry room at 625 W. Sixth St.

 

Officers arrived to find Browning suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

 

Morris is being held at the Forsyth County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
